AZ Legislative Update – Senate Releases FY 2026 Bipartisan Budget Proposal

Earlier this evening, the Arizona Senate released their $17.6 billion bipartisan FY 2026 budget proposal which is approximately $300 million more than the House GOP’s $17.3 billion plan, yet slightly less than the Governor’s original $17.7 billion ask.
Key provisions include:
- Public Safety & Infrastructure – 5% raises for DPS, corrections, firefighters, border funds, rural & local road investments; $15 million directed to the Prescott rodeo via a municipal channel
- Housing & Veterans - $10 million annually in low-income housing tax creds; $5 million one-time “Homes for Heroes” support for veteran homelessness
- Childcare & Education - $7 million ongoing for Bright Futures AZ; Proposition 123 land-trust backfill maintained; no new ESA voucher restrictions
- Healthcare – Additional AHCCCS funds for Medicaid, family planning/postpartum
- Water - $3 million set aside for Colorado River litigation
