AZ Legislative Alert: Governor Hobbs Taps Chuck Bassett for DIFI Director

Governor Katie Hobbs today announced that Charles “Chuck” Bassett, formerly with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, will be her nominee to serve as the next Director of the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI). Bassett had been a longtime client of Kutak Rock during his tenure at Blue Cross, and our team has developed a strong and positive working and personal relationship with him over many years.
Bassett brings extensive experience in insurance, public policy, and regulatory affairs. He served in senior government relations and policy roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, where he had been a key voice on major health-insurance and regulatory issues before the Legislature and executive branch. His background also includes legal and compliance work, as well as leadership in navigating complex state and federal insurance matters.
Governor Hobbs’ selection of Bassett signals an intention to place a seasoned, policy-focused professional at the helm of the state’s insurance and financial-services regulatory agency.
